Summary/Abstract: Purpose - Energy is one of the most valuable strategic resources required for the independent and effective functioning of countries and societies. With the dynamic progress of civilizations, especially with increasing industrialization, the demand for energy and energy consumption of countries and societies have continuously increased. Knowing how much energy each sector consumes can help governments allocate resources more effectively. It is important to prioritize the most energyconsuming sectors by ensuring that they invest in infrastructure, technology and policies that promote energy efficiency and sustainability. In this study, CRITIC-CODAS integrated approach is used to evaluate G7 countries according to their energy consumption and to identify the sector that causes their energy consumption. Design/methodology/approach - The energy consumption of the countries was analyzed in nine sectors, the criteria weights were determined by CRITIC technique and the countries were ranked according to their energy consumption by CODAS method. In addition, the results of the CODAS technique were compared with the results of EDAS, SAW, MABAC and TOPSIS methods to test the consistency of the ranking results. Findings - The results reveal that the industry with the highest weight is the basic metal industry with 34.9%, whereas the manufacturing industry has the lowest weight in terms of energy consumption. However, the CODAS method results show that the UK has the lowest energy consumption among the G7 countries, while the US has the highest energy use. Discussion - Sector-specific assessments, combined with country-level rankings, provide valuable information for policy makers and stakeholders to formulate targeted strategies for sustainable energy use.
