The role and importance of vocational training in promoting the objectives and values of the European Union

Summary/Abstract: Civil servants have an important role in achieving the objectives and promoting the values of the European Union in the member states. Therefore, investing in training and development of civil servants, recognition and support for performance must be a priority for all member states. A coherent approach of training and strategic investments in training are essential for public services to address the demands of citizens and to adapt the technological development. Regardless of the way administrations are organized, many public institutions face difficulties in retaining talents and attracting young people to the public administration. Access to training and development opportunities can be an important motivating factor for high-performing civil servants.
