Summary/Abstract: The article explores the careers led in various courts of Europe by the three Łaski brothers, Hieronim, Jan, and Stanisław. The Polish magnates of the Łaski family grew up under the tutelage of their uncle, Jan Łaski, archbishop of Gniezno and Primate of Poland. This positioned them in the Europe-wide camp of anti-Habsburg powers where the brothers sought service: in France of Francis I Valois and in Hungary of John I Szapolyai. Following the career of the eldest brother who became a leading diplomat of John I but later changed sides and entered into the service of Ferdinand I Habsburg, the article describes how their anti-Habsburg and pro-Ottoman ways of manoeuvring proved to be a dead end for all three of them both at the level of their family as well as in their diplomatic activity.
