Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the impact of economic freedom on the Polish non-life insurance market in 2004– 2023. The research is based on nine econometric models, in which the components of the Index of Economic Freedom (IEF) were used as explanatory variables, and traditional insurance market indi- cators (gross written premium, density index, penetration index) and developed synthetic indicators were used as explained variables. The results show that property rights most often had a positive impact on market development, supporting its stability and increasing the value of assets requiring insurance protection. On the other hand, the negative impact was recorded in the case of business freedom and trade freedom, suggesting that too rapid liberalization of the market and opening it to foreign entities could weaken the position of domestic enterprises and thus reduce their insurance capabilities and needs.
