Summary/Abstract: This article presents a relatively new participant in the country‘s education system – the educational mediator. We consider the competence approach in performing the activities of the educational mediator, which is related to the skills and abilities he has and develops for effective behaviour with the world around him and his ability to deal with problems, having a set of patterns of behaviour that can apply in certain situations, to affect the environment. The competence of the educational mediator is a combination of knowledge, skill and his legal capacity (competence).
