Summary/Abstract: Cryptocurrency has become an important phenomenon due to the effects of digitization, and academic studies in this field have been rapidly increasing in recent years. The aim of research is to systematically analyze the cryptocurrency literature indexed in the Web of Science database between 2014 and 2021 using bibliometric analysis methods. The software tools Excel and VOSviewer used in the analyses aim to visualize the number of publications on cryptocurrencies, citation counts, and the relationships between these studies. The findings reveal that there has been a significant increase in the number of publications on cryptocurrencies in the last four years compared to the previous four years in the SCI-Expanded, SSCI, and AHCI indexes. In particular, the approximately 13-fold increase in the number of publications on this topic and the 41-fold increase in citations indicate how significant cryptocurrencies have become in terms of academic interest and research. This situation suggests that there may be more research conducted on topics such as financial systems, economic impacts, and legal regulations concerning cryptocurrencies.
