Summary/Abstract: The development of children’s literature, which involves creating literary works appropriate for the cognitive and mental development of children from early childhood to adolescence, began in Kyrgyz literature during the 1920s. These literary works entered Kyrgyz literature mainly through translations from Russian literature. From this period onwards, Kyrgyz authors started to write pedagogically oriented works for children. Despite the negative impact of war on children’s literature in the 1940s, writers continued to produce works for children, with the post1960 era considered the developmental years of Kyrgyz children’s literature. Kyrgyz authors, aware of the educational function of children's literature, wrote works in parallel with Soviet literature, and they emphasized ideology in Kyrgyz children’s literature. Thus, the mindset of the era shaped the foundation of children's literary works. Poetry, as the first developing area of Kyrgyz children’s literature, is one of the literary genres where this reflection is observed. This study investigated the reflections of Soviet ideology in Kyrgyz children’s literature from its inception to the present, focusing on the interplay between children, literature, and ideology. It examined how Soviet ideology was depicted in Kyrgyz children’s poetry, how the ideology permeated children's thought processes, and how these works conveyed a societal message to children. The study used content analysis, a qualitative research method. The findings indicate that from the earliest works to the period of independence, poetry and children were utilized as ideological tools for fostering the ideal Soviet individual in Kyrgyz children’s poetry. These poems aimed to instill an idealized vision of a new world and a new worldview in children, and these poems addressed topics such as the socialist party and party leaders, communism, the October Revolution and its consequences, the abolition of private property and the formation of collective consciousness, kolkhoz/sovkhoz life, labor, and the importance of labor.
