Summary/Abstract: Although the well-known proverb says that “sport is health,” it is clear that extraordinary physical activity or sports competition, even at the am‑ ateur level, is associated with an increased risk of injury. This remark applies in particular to “contact” competitions, i.e. those in which competing athletesare in direct physical contact with each other. Combat sports differ from other disciplines in that their essence is most often to defeat the opponent with blows and grabs permitted by the rules of the sport in question. The described be‑ havior corresponds to the elements of criminal acts stipulated in the Criminal Code. For this reason, it is worth considering whether the permitted sports risk, seen as a counter-narrative or circumstance specifying the scope of ap‑ plication of the sanctioned norm, also applies to combat sports. The purpose of this paper is to try to determine, with reference to combat sports practiced by both amateurs and professionals, where the line between behavior falling within the limits of the counter-type of permissible sports risk and prohibited acts runs.
