Summary/Abstract: This paper intends to approach a very theoretical topic of public international law, the protection of human rights, from a practical viewpoint. Undoubtedly, no one could put a price tag on human life, dignity or other human rights. However, in human rights research, we sometimes forget that though human rights are invaluable, their protection does cost money for States undertaking the responsibility (or being forced to protect jus cogens norms) and should be calculated into their budget. This paper aims to analyze the price of the protection of human rights in Europe via practice analysis of one state: Greece.
