Summary/Abstract: The paper examines how the ideological elements of Fascism –which determined the Italian political system for a long period in the first half of the 20th century (1922–1943) –are conserved currently in Italy. With the foundation of Movimento Sociale Italiano (MSI) in 1946, the neofascist movements appeared soon after the proclamation of the First Italian Republic. In the 1990s more party successors were founded, among which the most significant one was the Alleanza Nazionale founded by Gianfranco Fini (1995), that, in 2009, fused with Forza Italia led by Silvio Berlusconi under the name Popolo della Libertà. After the party’s dissolution, the currently quite active Fratelli d’Italia –Alleanza Nazionale was found with the presidency of Giorgia Meloni. The paper gives a brief summary of the main principles of the mentioned parties, than it tries to answer the question whether Fratelli d’Italia can be considered as a neofascist party according to its programme.
