Summary/Abstract: Perfectionism is theorized to be affected by one’s relationships, but also negatively impacting relationships with others. The present study explores the longitudinal associations between perfectionism and perceived support from friends, on a sample of two hundred and sixty-one adolescents (mage = 17.6 years), using a cross-lagged panel design with two waves. Results showed that perfectionistic concerns contribute to relative decreases in adolescents’ perceived support from friends. The present results support the model of perfectionism social disconnection, indicating that perfectionistic concerns may interfere with adolescents’ perceptions on friendships.
