Summary/Abstract: The article presents the current lexicographic treatment of idiomatic expressions in the emerging Academic Dictionary of Contemporary Czech (ADCC) (cf. Kochová — Opavská et al., 2016; Šemelík — Lišková — Křivan, 2023). In the context of compilation of a monolingual general-purpose explanatory dictionary, phraseology represents one of the key conceptual issues; by comparison with older dictionaries, the treatment of phraseology in the ADCC has been significantly expanded. The emphasis is placed on capturing phrasemes as independent lexical units, with definitions provided through explanatory paraphrase. All types of phrasemes are documented, including similes, nominal, verbal, and sentence-based phrasemes, as well as proverbs. The primary source for identifying phrasemes is the Czech National Corpus (CNC), in particular the SYN series corpora. For the sake of clarity and user-friendliness, only the most frequent variants of phrasemes are recorded. Stylistic labels are included in phraseological entries when relevant (cf. Lišková, 2013). Data from the ADCC and the CNC are currently being integrated with the LEMUR database of multiword lexical units within the framework of the TA CR project Multiword Units for Digital Education.
