Summary/Abstract: Various studies indicate that the utilization of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) in European nations has either shown an upward trend or remained stable in recent years. Representing a significant global health crisis, COVID-19 has increased the urgency of monitoring the use of various CAM modalities. This study analyzed patterns and changes in CAM usage among the Slovakian population from 2019 to 2023, replicating a 2019 survey. In 2019, 82.4% of participants (N=1027) reported regular CAM use; in 2023, this rose to 90.3% (N=1014). The whole medical system (WMS) showed the highest growth. CAM use is now considered mainstream in addressing health concerns. The study compares CAM use in 2019 and 2023, examining socio-demographic and socio-economic characteristics and related factors. The significant increase in CAM use and the changing reasons for its use may reflect broader societal shifts, such as limited access to conventional healthcare during the pandemic. The study concludes that the rise in CAM use underscores the need for qualitative research exploring social and cultural influences.
