Summary/Abstract: The rich cultural heritage and resource potential on the territory of Bulgaria, combined with the tendency for greater demand and interest in cultural events, in particular folklore, are the main motive for writing this article. Folklore tourism is a relatively new and not well-known specialized type of tourism, but thanks to the growing interest in folklore events, its popularization and development have a significant role in the diversification of the country's tourist product. Bulgaria is defined as one of the countries with the richest folklore in the world and has an untapped potential for creating a competitive product on the world tourist markets. By increasing the competitiveness of Bulgaria as a destination for folklore tourism based on the intangible cultural heritage, it will positively affect not only the development of the sector in the country, but also the economic condition of the regions in which it is practiced.
