24. Second appeal against the order suspending the proceedings for absence of the parties

Summary/Abstract: Application for adjournment of the proceedings on the ground that the lawyer of choice is unable to appear, based on the provisions of Article 222(1) of the Code of Civil Procedure is a justification for the absence of the party, equivalent in procedural terms to a lack of defence and not a withdrawal from the trial of the application. In this context, the court must rule on the claim for postponement, any other subsequent measure being unlawful and liable to render the order for stay of proceedings null and void for absence of the parties.
