Suicidal behavior in Poland in 2012–2023

Summary/Abstract: Intentional taking of one's own life, understood as a categorical resignation from the fight for survival, the ultimate loss of hope for overcoming an internal crisis, is undoubtedly one of the most difficult to explain tragedies affecting humanity. A person, making a final decision, which carries irreversible consequences, is in a mental state causing an internal blockage, manifesting a lack of determination in searching for an alternative way to cope with the subjectively assessed as hopeless situation in which he finds himself. The text attempts to explain the essence of the presuicidal syndrome and the difficulties in identifying it by the environment of a person in a suicidal crisis. The article also analyzes the dynamics of suicide attacks in Poland in the years 2012-2023, taking into account the disturbing trends in relation to children and adolescents
