Summary/Abstract: The study looks at the specifics of probate files and testaments from the business environment of the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The first part of the study presents the legislative foundations of the probate agenda and the typology of the documents that were produced in relation to probate proceedings based on them. Within the presented typology of probate documents, the authors drew attention to some of the specifics encountered in the case of estates of enterpreneurs (the complexity of valuing corporate assets, the question of the degree of separation of corporate assets from personal assets, the specific documents of business estates). In the second part of the study, the specific probate files of three enterpreneurs (Friedrich Ulrich, Franz Langer and David Gutmann) are presented, both with regard to the preservation of diplomatic material and the narrative value of the documents.
