Summary/Abstract: In the Introduction to the book Cruising Utopia, Muñoz interprets queerness using themindset of the German idealist tradition, particularly that of Ernst Bloch. As Muñozforegrounds, these references have no orthodox quality. Muñoz strongly distances himselffrom the “antirelational” approach, which he deems popular among his contemporaryscholars. In turn, he announces that his book encourages readers to rethink hope andutopia in queer art.
