Summary/Abstract: Clerics’ speeches were very important pastoral activities in determining religious attitudes or conduct. These have always aimed at propagating the divine truth of redemption or salvation, which essentially promotes faith in God and hope for a better future, and subsidiarily promotes the attitude of adaptation to adversity, that is, religious resilience. Adaptability to the hardships or vicissitudes of life is the goal of every person when he is surrounded by stressors that he can no longer manage. In the history of the Romanian Orthodox Church, there was a high hierarch, namely Metropolitan Varlaam Motoc of Moldova, who not only demonstrated resilience, but also urged his audience to adopt such an attitude of adaptation to difficulties, trauma, wars, diseases. In order to spread his resilient models to be followed by the entire Romanian-speaking people, Metropolitan Varlaam wrote and printed the first book in Romanian so that his message reaches the hearts and souls of as many Romanians as possible.
