Summary/Abstract: Domestic violence is a social problem faced by all countries, and unfortunately even Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is defined as a pattern of behavior or relationships in which coercion, intimidation, and control are used directly or through threats to harm others, whether psychologically, physically, or economically. Violence against women conditionally arises from expectations associated with patriarchal roles and unequal power relations within society and is deeply rooted in the awareness that women must be in an unequal position compared to men, whether in private or public settings. The term violence against women is used to describe acts of violence by men against women. The term violence in partner relationships is also often used. It is defined as a pattern of abusive and coercive behavior that may include psychological, physical and sexual abuse, as well as physical, social, financial isolation, possessiveness and extreme jealousy and intimidation. This term also includes children who are used by the abuser to intimidate and exploit the victim, i.e. women, in favor of the abuser, whether it was about forced labor or forced prostitution, as well as those persons who are forced by the abuser to participate in the abuse of the victim (woman).
