Summary/Abstract: This study explores the relationship between Christology and ecclesiology by examining the various meanings of the term body of Christ. It focuses primarily on the metaphor’s usage in the New Testament epistles, where it serves as a key image for understanding the nature and identity of the Church. The paper offers a historical overview of its interpretation and pays particular attention to recent reflections by Protestant theologians on what this metaphor implies about the way in which the community of faith represents the risen Lord in the world.
