Narratives of Success and National Culture Dimensions: Serbia and the USA

Summary/Abstract: The author analyzes the American myth of success, and then compares it with the success stories in Serbian culture and the characteristics of American national culture, finding that it contains and restores the characteristics of American culture. On the other hand, comparing the Serbian stories of success and wealth to the characteristics of Serbian national culture, the author also finds matches between elements of that stories and the national culture. She argues that the success story of a nation influences its culture and by its active creation it can systematically be worked on creation of culture of success. An example of it is the author's research of the use of American success culture by the leaders of Serbian diaspora.
