Summary/Abstract: There are narrow possibilities to translocate wooden buildings from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries because there is not enough exhibition space in open-air museums for them. Additionally, quite often these buildings are not considered worthy among their owners. However, they are valuable for the history of wooden architecture, as they show the last stage of traditional carpentry development. Before they become objects of great historical importance, they must go through the ‘being only an old building’ phase. Nowadays, the relicts of traditional wooden architecture disappear often soon after the death of their last habitants. Initiatives like Zagroda Apolonia (English: the ‘Apolonia’ Farmstead) in Zakrzów (Wieliczka District), which is a private open-air museum belonging to an art conservator - Elżbieta Graboś, should be precious part of preserving wooden architecture system in Poland. The museum’s quick interventions help to rescue objects sentenced to destruction. One of such buildings is a small barn from Grabówki (Wieliczka District), primary with a thatched hip roof.
