Summary/Abstract: Asset declaration is one of the most important preventive anti-corruption mechanisms which reduces the possibility of disproportionate enrichment gained through corruption crimes and strengthens the trust of citizens and the entire public in the work of B&H public institutions. A well-designed and operational asset reporting system can be an important element in the overall combat against corruption and strengthening the integrity of a country. Intending to create a functional system, it is necessary to determine the stakeholders which are obliged to declare assets, define the institutions/bodies responsible for collecting financial information (assets and income reports) and data processing, and consider possible legal frameworks and restrictions regarding the protection of personal data, determine the purposes, scope, and content of the report. That kind of system would result in more transparency in the work of the civil service, raise awareness that civil servants are the service of the citizens and B&H would express its readiness to harmonize its legal framework regarding international recommendations which would ultimately result in the reduction of corruption cases, but also the improvement of the position of Bosnia and Herzegovina in international scales because in this way the desire to combat against corruption and the readiness to put an end to corruption cases are expressed. This kind of science paper introduced us to a detailed analysis of the status quo in B&H in the field of asset declaration of civil servants, the main challenges that exist and represent an obstacle to the introduction of a functional declaration system was presented, and the most important recommendations are given for effective ways of solving this issue.
