Summary/Abstract: In recent decades, fundamental transition changes have taken place in post-socialist countries in the economic system, political, cultural, artistic and social spheres, as well as in the overall social system. Scientific and technological development has brought new discoveries to the global digital society. In parallel with this development, the "diseases" of the modern way of life have emerged: the erosion of the family as a basic cell through the emergence of the phenomenon of "empty nests", erosion of morals, ethics, human dignity, but also other challenges to humanity. Wars as a threat to peace and security have been replaced by new security risks and threats. The value of man and his freedoms and rights clashed with the illegal activities of criminal organizations that showed a supranational dimension. This paper seeks to explain the connection between human freedoms and rights, the development of democracy and security risks and threats that are threatened through a contemporary context.
