Summary/Abstract: If electric cars integrated and supplemented in a smart way, its can significantly reduce the release od CO2, soot and other pollutants into the atmosphere, as an initiative to apply renewable energy in electricity generation. EU Directive 2014/94 on alternative fuels for sustainable mobility obliges member states to develop national policies in this area and offer some form of support to owners of EVs, encouraging more EVs and creating lots of work for municipalities to provide the proper infrastructure. The impact od the COVID-19 pandemic on the global economy will greately have consequences for the car industry, especially for the further development of electromobility. The starting points of this paper are the low level of electric cars, the lack of state subventions and the nonexistent regulation for the energy payment in the region and unpreparedness of the power distribution network for future mass use od electromobility and associated electric chargers. The aim of this paper is to promote the use of renewable energy sources and the use of electric cars and to point out the possible impact of the global pandemic on slowing the trend of electromobility and the consequences of such a trend.
