Summary/Abstract: The frequent usage of copper compounds in vineyards can lead to enrichment of soil by this element as well as the reduction of weed species germination. The researches were done during 2020 at the sites of Erdevik, Banoštor and Sremski Karlovci. Firstly, the quantity of copper in soil from 50 - 800 mg/kg soil was determined at the above mentioned sites. In laboratory conditions equivalent quantities of Cu determined in soil were examined ( 0,2 ; 0,4; 0,8; 1,6 and 32 g/l) according to Amaranthus retroflexus and Chenopodium album germination in petri dishes of one species. It was determined that by increasing the concentration for the examined weed species, inhibitory effect on aboveground and underground part of seedlings was noticed, except in concentration of usage of 0,2g/l where the lenght of above and underground part of seedlings was higher in relation to both weed species. Parametres of the climate chamber in which seeds were germinated were adapted at 22 C during 12h light ( 52.4 umol-m" - s"l) and 12h at 18 C without light and humidity of 65 %. The least copper concentrations ( 0,2 g/l) were determined at 95 germinated seeds, with concentrationof 0,4g/l -7 l but with concentration of 0,8 g/l the number of germinated seeds was 56 seeds. At the highest concentrations of Cu usage of 1,6 and 3,2g/l 48 and 33 germinated seeds were determined.
