Summary/Abstract: Systems thinking as an observed concept has existed for little more then 50 years, but as a phenomenon, it has been present since the early stages of social associations evident through the need for intercommunication in the world. The work of researchers and contemporary authors - Arie de Geus and Peter Senge, who are foundational figures in the field of systems thinking, has been instrumental. In addition, the authors Derek Cabrera, Laura Cabrera, and Elena Cabrera have conducted significant research (n=1400) examining the effects of their unique model (DSRP) within the context of its application to everyday life and work. The author of this paper reviews the literature related to the field of Organizational Learning (OL), drawing on the works of Reg Revans, Donald Schön, Chris Argyris, and others Furthermore, the paper explores systems thinking as an integral component of OL, focusing on John Wade, Ross Arnold, and focuses specifically the DSRP model developed by prof. Derek Cabrera. Additionally, a crucial expansion of the theoretical foundation for this paper is provided by the research of Christina Stave and Megan Hopper, who offer an insightful critique of the lack of a concise definition of systems thinking among researchers. In the third part of the paper, the author provides an overview of the research by Derek Cabrera and his co-authors, symbolically termed “The Fishtank Experiment.” This review encompasses the practical effects of applying the DSRP model through a straightforward research series. The aim of this review is to assist in forming an understanding of the practical applicability of the DSRP model, serving as a foundation for further research and a series of organizational interventions that could evolve into a concrete and practically applicable model for fostering systems thinking within small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in North Macedonia.
