Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to shed light on the advantages vs. difficulties in second language acquisition depending on the age of learners. The question of whether and to what extent there exists a critical period” in second language acquisition is theoretically discussed. Some of the advantages of early acquisition of a second language are presented. The article gives examples of how Bulgarian children master English vocabulary and elementary grammatical structures through videos available on YouTube.
