Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to study the role of information technology in the educational process. Two main interrelated groups of information technology (basic and applied) are described. Using the Web 2.0, cloud computing, educational expert systems, multimedia applications, hypertext, hypermedia, E-mail, and social networks are considered.
