Artificial Intelligence and Technology in Language Education: A Bibliometric Analysis

Summary/Abstract: Artificial intelligence has become one of the rapidly developing technologies recently and hashad reflections on almost every sector. These developments have enabled the expansion anddiversification of the usage areas of artificial intelligence and other technological products.The development of technology and artificial intelligence has not only affected educationsystems in the context of creating the characteristics of individuals that need to be trained, butalso the structure and functioning of education has been affected by this situation, andpublications on the trends regarding these effects have begun to be included in the literature.In this research, a detailed literature analysis of studies on artificial intelligence andtechnology carried out in the field of language education is presented. The studies examinedwithin the scope of the research were obtained by scanning Web of Science (WoS)academic/scientific database records. As a result of detailed screening, 51 studies that wereultimately considered to be within the scope of the research were analyzed. The findingsobtained from this research provide various clues about the studies and trends in artificialintelligence and technology in the field of language education. Considering the limitednumber of scientific studies based on bibliometrics on the subject in the literature, it isbelieved that this study will contribute to the interdisciplinary language education literature.
