Summary/Abstract: In the context of accelerated digitalization and the development of artificial intelligence (AI), human consciousness faces unprecedented ethical and spiritual challenges. This paper explores the impact of digital technologies on the Orthodox understanding of sin and conscience. Orthodoxy emphasizes the importance of conscience as an instrument of moral discernment, essential in relationship with God and others. In the digital age, external influences—such as social media, algorithms, and AI—can distort this discernment. Digitalization facilitates access to information but can also lead to moral relativism, the normalization of immoral behaviors, and,not infrequently, new pathologies stemming from excessive digital content consumption and addiction to smartphones and other devices. Thus, we encounter a dilemma: how is sin redefined in a reality where AI can analyze and influence individual choices? This paper also addresses the risks associated with the hijacking of human consciousness through mechanisms such as data manipulation, technological addiction, and disinformation. Through theological reflection, the study underscores the necessity of robust spiritual education and ethical formation in response to modern challenges. Additionally, it highlights the Church’s role in guiding believers toward a healthy and responsibleuse of digital technologies, promoting a moral conscience unaltered bythese influences and encouraging an authentic relationship with God,others, and oneself. In conclusion, this paper emphasizes theimportance of renewing spiritual life in the digital age to counteractthe negative effects of technology on human consciousness.
