Summary/Abstract: For several decades now, interdisciplinarity both at the different levels of education and in the professional field has been discussed quite extensively by the relevant bibliography. However, it seems that the connections between this timely demand for a multidimensional and integrative approach to education and work has not been linked to the various, unique gifts and talents, which are celebrated and shared by the community within the Church as the One Body of Christ. This article attempts to point out this connection in order to highlight both the necessity as well as the attainability of a creative interaction between peoples with different talents and from different disciplines. This premise is rooted in the belief that all members of the One Body are partaking in all of the gifts, which the Spirit bestows on the community. Patristic theology, particularly Saint John Chrysostom’s comments on Paul’s ecclesiology and Saint Athanasius’ commentary on the Psalms, offer valuable insights into how sharing the common gifts is ontologically justified and how the Spirit of God may enable certain persons, on certain occasions to carry out a role that is not typically theirs. These theological principles, according to the author, can be linked to the various forms of multiinter- and trans-disciplinarity, which modern-day schools and workplaces may adopt when tackling difficult/complex questions and problems in the rapidly changing world of the 21st century.
