Summary/Abstract: The Gniezno Lakeland, particularly that part within the marginal zone of the Poznań phase of the Vistula Glaciation,is characterised by complex geomorphological forms. One such form located in the Niedźwiedziny gravel pit remains a subjectof debate regarding its origin. The aim of this study was to determine the genesis of fluvioglacial deposits of this landform, alongside the analysis of sedimentary structure and grain size. The results revealed the presence of sand and gravel depositscharacterised by cross-bedding and horizontal layering, suggesting a fluvioglacial origin. The analysis indicates that this land-form was likely shaped by deglaciation processes associated with dead ice. Additionally, the study highlights the need to revisegeological and geomorphological maps of the area to better understand the complex genesis of local fluvioglacial features.
