Summary/Abstract: Colonel Jan Rzepecki “Prezes”, “Ślusarczyk”, during the German occupation,organiser and commander of the Information and Propaganda Offi ce of theHome Army, after the deportation of sixteen leaders of the Polish UndergroundState to Moscow, headed the structures of the Poakowski underground.Heading the Delegate of the Armed Forces at Home, together with the actingDelegate of the Government at Home, Stefan Korboński “Zieliński”, theyattempted to disband the partisan units and limit the armed struggle toa minimum. Their actions were relatively successful, but the terror of thecommunist repression apparatus resulted in the reactivation of the armedunits. After the formation of the Provisional Government of National Unity,Colonel Rzepecki dissolved the DSZ and, together with his collaborators,founded the Freedom and Independence Association, an undergroundsocio-political movement intending to support legal democratic parties in parliamentary elections. The article depicts the process of transformation ofthe underground armed formation into a civilian organisation.
