Summary/Abstract: Throughout Islamic history, one of the fundamental concerns for Muslims has been learning and teaching the Qurʾān. Understanding and living by the correct commandments of Islam necessitate learning and teaching the Qurʾān in its original form. This responsibility primarily fell upon the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who was the first recipient and practitioner of the Qurʾān. He not only taught the meanings of the verses to his companions (Sahabah) but also guided them in the proper recitation (pronunciation and word articulation) of the Qurʾān, demonstrating its practical application. The focus of this research is to identify and evaluate certain pedagogical principles that the Prophet followed while teaching the Qurʾān to his initial recipients. Drawing from information mentioned in the sources, the study aims to explore the Prophet’s approach to Qurʾānic recitation, teaching methods, and interactions with his students. By doing so, the research contributes to the development of a method and communication language that can guide contemporary Qurʾān educators. This approach and understanding also serve as the foundation for our article. Additionally, the research analyzes the pedagogical principles employed by the Prophet during Qurʾān instruction without directly focusing on specific techniques or methods. Therefore, other time periods in Islamic history when Qurʾān instruction occurred or individuals engaged in this task are beyond the scope of this study. However, the research occasionally provides examples of the impact of the Prophet’s Qurʾān teaching methods on subsequent generations. Notably, existing literature generally discusses the Prophet’s role as an educator in broad terms, but there are relatively few studies specifically examining his Qurʾān teaching practices. This work aims to address this gap by focusing on the pedagogical aspects of the Prophet’s Qurʾān instruction within the context of teacher-student relationships and educational principles. To gather data, an extensive literature review was conducted initially. Subsequently, qualitative research methods, specifically document analysis, were employed to analyze and evaluate the obtained data. As a result of this study, the pedagogical principles applied by the Prophet during Qurʾān instruction were identified as follows: selectively nurtureing of capable ones, proviiding equal opportunities for Qurʾān education, avoiding hasitation, supporting struggling learners, practical application alongside theoretical education, favoring memorization over mere alphabet-based learning, seeking feedback from his learners, providing both individual and collective education, combining formal and informal education, personally demonstrating Qurʾānic recitation, integration of writing and memorization, recognizing and encouraging successful learners.
