Summary/Abstract: The article is a study of literature and source materials on the process of buildingpractical elements of the European Union’s armaments policy over the last twodecades. Although the eu’s arms policy in the strict sense has not been defined norestablished. The eu does not have even a formal competence in the field of defencepolicy, let alone armaments policy, the scope of activities undertaken by the euinstitutions in recent years indicates the gradual implementation at the eu levelof those practical aspects that at the national level are perceived as the essentialelements of armaments policy. The presented examples of an increasingly clearlycrystallized eu arms policy are expressed in the implicitly defined activitiesof sectoral policies regarding the industrial policy of the defence sector, researchand development policy for the defence and space industries, policies supportinginternational cooperation aimed at building security and defence competences, aswell as defining common goals and processes for military acquisition and opera-tion of military equipment.
