Summary/Abstract: Place attachment refers to the emotional attachment that people develop towards certain places. Place attachment variable is effective in determining where people want to live. People prefer to live where they are attached. In addition, place attachment facilitates adaptation to the place of migration and coping with psychological distress caused by migration. In the light of this information, in this study, firstly, it was investigated whether Syrian refugees residing in Turkey develop place attachment to Turkey and which social psychological factors play a role in this process. The findings were compared with the models of the meaning of place developed by different researchers before. In addition, the data were examined in terms of some social psychological processes such as acculturation and adaptation. Finally, the effect of place attachment on the participants' desire to stay in or leave Turkey was investigated. The study is exploratory and no hypothesis has been tested. For this purpose, semistructured interviews were conducted with 12 participants. The obtained data were analyzed using the qualitative method.
