Summary/Abstract: The aim of this investigation is to determine the most common causes of urinary tract infections (UTIs) and their antimicrobial resistance in the region of central Macedonia covered by the microbiological laboratories of the Public Health Center - PHC Veles and TU Kavadarci, in a period of two years (2022 – 2023). Material for analysis are data from analyzed urines from the microbiological laboratory at PHC Veles. The results of the research showed that in this region bacterial urinary infections are more common among women. The most frequently isolated bacteria are the Gram-negative bacteria: Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Proteus mirabillis, as well as the Gram positive bacteria: Staph.aureus and Entrococcus. In TU Kavadarci, the isolated bacteria show resistance to Cotrimoxazol, Ciprofloxacin, Nitrofurantion, Amoxiclav, Norfloxacin, Ceftriaxone.
