Summary/Abstract: Capital adequacy is one of the key indicators for assessment of the credibility of a specific investment intermediary and represents the level of sufficiency of its equity for ensuring its liquidity, increasing its rate of return and ensuring its financial sustainability. Sufficient equity facilitates the stable functioning of the investment intermediary both in normal market environment and in crisis conditions and helps to overcome the multiple and various risks (investment, interest, liquidity, etc.) that occur in the process of pursuing out its investment activity. Equity covers possible losses from operations and forms the base for maintaining the trust of the investors. The analysis of capital adequacy may become deeper to identify its impact on profitability, solvency and liquidity of the investment intermediaries. This publication highlights the issues of analysis of investment intermediarys’ capital adequacy, and its subject matter covers the options for its control.
