2023 – The Year of the Codex Suprasliensis

Summary/Abstract: The text is a record of the inaugural speech at the international conference of the main organizer of the Celebration of the Year of the Supraśl Codex, Orthodox Archbishop of Białystok and Gdansk Jakub. The Archbishop presented the history and importance of the manuscript, discussed many initiatives organized to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of the uprising, the 500th anniversary of the arrival in Supraśl and the 200th anniversary of its rediscovery by Fr. M. Bobrowski (monuments, memorial plaques, exhibitions). The prepared collective translation of the work into Polish is particularly important. The involvement of local authorities and the Bulgarian partner in the anniversary is very important.
