Summary/Abstract: Juliusz Słowacki wrote Father Marek in 1843. With this work, concerning the Bar Confederation, he initiated the development of the paradigm of mystical-genesic drama, containing all the seeds of mystical-genesic thought. The poet’s search for a new form of expression results in the poetic language of Father Marek. The article is an attempt at a synthetic, yet multi-faceted approach to the textual fabric of this poetic drama from 1843. The following aspects of poetic language in the drama have been distinguished here: imagery, lexis and stylization, biblicalisms and the word as the overarching, central category. The poetic word of Father Marek has the functions of the Divine Word (prophetic, illuminating, and dymizing). At the level of poetic language, the word is expressed through rich stylistic devices that frame the poetic world of the drama. The word is also shaped by theatrological semiology as one of the theatrical signs, besides acoustics, movement, gesture and facial expressions, space, light, costumes and props.
