Summary/Abstract: In recent years, digitized ancient texts have increasingly been used in humaninies. This is convenient for scholars, but it also hides great dangers – firstly, because the digitization is usually done by people without proper qualifications and, secondly, because we put too much trust in the digitized texts, and sometimes, for various reasons, mistakes creep into them that make the corresponding text unintelligible. I have come across such cases recently in my work with medieval Greek and Church Slavonic liturgical texts. Digitized ancient texts should therefore be handled very carefully and, if possible, compared with the original.
