Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to present and analyse selected, invariable parts of speech occurring in the Silesian literary language. Research conducted on a corpus of approximately 450,000 wordforms indicated that Silesian adverbs, modalizers, verbs and exclamations used in contemporary writing have retained their structural distinctiveness and independence. The influence of the contemporary Polish standard on the Silesian lexicon – although noticeable – is not significant within the analysed material. The distinguishing feature of Silesian adverbs, modalizers, verbs and exclamations is the high frequency of loanwords from German. The research allowed us to conclude that some Silesian parts of speech are characterized by a low degree of crystallization of the lexical norm. One finds a lot of ephemeral forms and individualisms here. The examined material also contains numerous examples of homonymy (krōtko1 ‘briefly’ and krōtko2 ‘soon’, rŏz1 ‘once’ and rŏz2 ‘once upon a time’).
