Summary/Abstract: This paper examines distinctive translational practices in the early Church Slavonic Psalter which have been retained in later redactions of the text, focusing on cases in which different Greek lexical items are rendered by a single Church Slavonic one or, conversely, a Greek word has multiple translations in Church Slavonic. It analyses the distribution of the Church Slavonic correlates to: It suggests exegetical, semantic and contextual motivations for the choices made in the early translation and for their subsequent retention.
