Summary/Abstract: This report highlights the prevalence of organized crime in the Western Balkans, focusing primarily on corruption and human trafficking. Corruption manifests in street-level bribes to high-level political collusion with business elites, undermining privatization efforts and public trust, while the trafficking of women and children, driven by war, poverty, and weak institutions, has become a form of modern slavery deeply rooted in regional and international criminal networks. To combat these issues, the report calls for stronger institutional reforms, increased transparency, improved legal frameworks, and better protection and reintegration support for victims.
