Summary/Abstract: An integral and essential element of any especially creative production and learning is the motivation for cognition. "Motivation is the combination of motives and dynamic, regulatory and integrative functions. A motive is that necessary factor in students which initiates the activity, maintains and directs it towards a specific goal." (Trebjesanin and Scheffer 1991:54). A motive can be internal and external, depending on the objective. It is important to know that there are differences in motivation at different ages. For younger students motivation for activity dominates, while with older students motivation for certain contents dominates. Creative learning and production are motivated from within. They are based on the motives of curiosity, activities, skills or achievements and when activities of students are performed in a team with socializing and participating. The students mistakes should be accepted as a challenge and tasks of medium difficulty should be seen as optimal for the development of motivation. Incentives, needs and motivations are the three processes of motivation. It is important to know that for students in the art classes strongest motive is selfconfirmation. This paper presents the contexts of (parts of) the research for the master thesis: Intrusive factors of student's art creativity in subject teaching, for which the motivation was of a great importance.
