Summary/Abstract: In this paper, the authors first provide an overview of the development of education about the Holocaust at the international level. The criteria that become standards in education are particularly highlighted as an important point. It is obvious that the institutions and organizations have an important role in establishing international standards of education about the Holocaust and genocides. Exploring the issue of education in the Republic of Srpska it is highlighted the need for consideration of the theoretical principles of the culture of memory of victims of genocide against Serbs in the Independent State of Croatia (ISC), which has to be adequately incorporated into educational programs in the future.Young people need to study systematically, the thematic unit Defensive-Patriotic War and the creation of the Republic of Srpska in order to build a certain culture of memory about recent events in the past. Remembering the life stories of victims, located in a specific domestic historical context, need to be the essence of the memory of the Serbs, and have to be, compatible with contemporary international principles of culture of memory.
