Summary/Abstract: This paper is focused on mutual relations between the war and the construction of the states and nations during the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century on the Balkan Peninsula. In order to comprehend the different outcomes regarding the occurrence of national states in Balkans in relation to the West Europe‘s experience, it was necessary to apply a theoretical model that would be suitable for the dynamics of the development of states in Balkan. Continuing in that manner, the main goal of this work is to, with the application of Malesevic‘s model and partially leaning towards Tilly‘s theory of uprising of western-European states, demonstrate how the wars and nationalisms did not take the leading role in creation of 19th century Balkan states, as a contrast to popular belief.
