Summary/Abstract: This study, which is about the spatial development of the city of Kilis, deals with the systematic distribution of spatial and human developments in the physical environment from the past to the present. In this context, the changes in the macroform of the city in terms of history, geography and planning are revealed. The study is supported by both document analysis and data obtained from field observations. The method followed in the study was to reveal the spatial distribution by analyzing aerial photographs, maps and satellite images of the city of Kilis after 1950. Within the scope of the study, aerial photographs showing the spatial distribution of the city of Kilis for the years 1950, 1976, 1985 and 1999 were obtained from the General Directorate of Mapping (HGM). The urban sprawl after 2000 was obtained by analyzing the Google Earth satellite images of the years 2004, 2014 and 2024. The development dynamics of the urban space were determined as the transition to Ottoman rule, the drawing of the border, the minefield, smuggling, administrative function change and the recent Syrian migration. The spatial development of the city of Kilis developed slowly until the process of becoming a province. After the process of becoming a province, urban sprawl gained speed. Today, the speed of urban sprawl is realized in the form of spreading, leaping and scattering in various directions due to population pressure, automobile use and the influence of the new urban culture.
